PARAFIL ™ high performance synthetic ropes and cables were the first products launched by Linear Composites Ltd. in 1969. The synthetic ropes and cables consist of a core of closely packed high strength synthetic fibres, lying parallel to each other, encased in a tough and durable polymeric sheath. This parallel fibre structure and tough polymeric sheath ensures a combination of outstanding properties.

There are three standard TYPES of PARAFIL ™ synthetic ropes or cable based on the type of fibre used. Each has the choice of four different polymeric sheaths.

The specially formulated polyethylene sheath is most commonly used and is perfectly satisfactory for most purposes. The EVA copolymer sheath is more flexible and stress-crack resistant. Higher resistance to heat and abrasion can be obtained from the polyester elastomer.

To utilise the unique properties of PARAFIL ™ synthetic ropes and cables, specially designed end terminations have been developed. End terminations are available in a number of materials, to suit particular requirements.

Applications include: insulating guys, catenaries and support systems for urban transport systems; buoy moorings, yacht and ship rigging and guard rails; cable stays for bridges; pre-stressing tendons; roof support systems etc.
